I've just opened up GW after playing last week and i'm being forced to download a massive patch which is 320mb + i mean for christs sake i only played a couple days ago! Anyone know what's in it as I can't find it anywhere, all I see for the 15th is double green drop... Wow double green drop is now 320mb? Oh look it's now at 325mb and encounting... when will it stop

edit:350mb now
edit 2: 410mb now...
edit 3: 551mb now this is getting bloody ridiculous
edit 4: 620 and starting updating again this morning, 11mb in this new one so far :P

They're adding an elite mission over the next few months at some point. Maybe that's been dowloading over the last few days. All I can do is guess.

Rej it's just a big update, everyone who starts the program after it has to download it.

News flash: guild wars uses streaming updates to download content to your PC. Get used to it.

If it is something that changes the game they will post update notes on guildwars.com, otherwise it could be preloading for something coming up.

I assume you are not using the "-image" command?

Oh another news flash - I can't find out anywhere what is on this gigantic patch

when was that update (download) exactly?

im online all the time and havent got any bigger updtate in last few weeks (few MB's maybe)

did your download (update) started before you enterned game (and counted there 551 mb) or in game download (upper right corner)?

its in the top right hand corner the same as in game but on the log in screen and it won't connect when I try and log in...

what i'm trying to find out is:

a) Why I can't log in
b) What's in this update
c) Why not everyone else has to download it, my friend does and so do I..

If you don't log in very regularly you may have "more" streamed updates than usual.

If you have a healthy net connection, I recommend you run the GW.exe with the -image switch. (only need to do that when you think you have fallen behind)

Also, I understand that people that don't have the store bought boxed version of the game may have more downloads; but that's understandable.

Just run the -image option and you will catch up. But be prepared for it to take a long time, and you can't play the game while -image is taking place.

b)first...that isnt update
that is: you are downloading some areas (one you havent been into) so next time you enter then you would have only "Decompressing" and not "Downloading" and after you decompress all of that next time you need one sec to open that area

a)why you cant log on...i dont know....what error does it says when you type your username and password? do you see right window (unique weekend drop, i have key,etc)? if you dont see it than its problem with your firewall or anti virus programs (i had that kind of problem but ANET helped me to solve it)

right i added -image to my icon... it says i gotta download 56,000 + files for it to work WTH :S btw ive got the special edition, what's going on with this ludicrous download ?

-image makes you download everything. This means you need not spend ages waiting again until your missed updates become large.
